acid paulis album bld dropped earlier this year and was a superb reminder of martin gretschmanns unique place within the electronic music. breathing musicality and adventurousness into everything that he does, the album covered a number of moods and emotions, from dystopian carnivalesque vibes to moments of high intensity, through to deep melancholia and synth laden ambience. following on from the a remix package, b brings another huge selection of producers into the fray to reinterpret the originals. first up, hamburg hero stimming works over ‘amadou - flipping the original, into a techy bomb. a thick kick underpins a shuffling, off kilter rhythm and beautifully treated melodics. stimmings feel for gently pushing the dancefloor into new places shines through. ‘rené is reworked by roman flügel, the ongaku/klang/playhouse boss whose influence on the european electronic music scene has been immense. always willing to experiment, ‘rené is the perfect canvas - arpeggiated blips and beeps echo primitive electronic explorations by the likes of francis bebey, and a huge subby kick drum take this track into space. alex boman sets to work on ‘jeanne, locking into his signature groovy, tribal approach to working the dancefloor. the swedish producer adds dubby elements, an irresistible percussion track and disruptive, random sounds to the thick, heady mix. dutch wunderkind satori tackles ‘jorge - twisting the original into a psychedelic groover that finds room for backwards vocals, marimba-like melodies, fat basslines and shuffling breakbeats.

time for colours, a new series with a playful sound and the world as inspiration. on yellow ep, lyssna invites the italian producer riciar ghir to contribute on a1 with dreamy cargo bubbles and tribal drums. a2 showcases the italian duo, minimalafrika. with several great releases on their resume, drakma queen takes you on a deep sci-fi house ride. on the flip side b1 yet another excellent italian producer robotalco comes along. involved in getwet records and one half of the fake congas duo. no more disco takes you back to the old school 4/4 sound with playful and funky tunes. last but not least is b2 with the young talented stockholm duo klubbhuset that released their debut album on the great nyc label lets play house. ss0817 is a classic house track with warm disco samples and hypnotic swirles that makes you wanna move your hips.

vinyl only - limited to 200. after a short hiatus, blossom kollektiv returns with a brand new limited edition vinyl release. this time around industry veteran, matthias vogt, presents his voyeur ep. no stranger to the label, his latest features three deep and melodic cuts with one remix of the title track from tanzlife v id ensemble. starting things out with “voyeur,” we move into beautiful soundscapes that truly tell a story though its lush melodies, while still packing enough punch to get the crowd going in the right moments of a set. followed by tanzlife v id ensemble’s interpretation, they bring a more traditional deep house version replacing the lush melodies with more club ready synth stabs and pads while reworking the composition for the peak moments in the club. now flipping over to the b-side we start with rubin a track full of sunny time vibes. this is the type of track that you’d love to play during the cold and dark months to bring a little temporary sunshine without it actually being sunny. rich deep pads are paired here with uplifting synths and a classic deep house arrangement to bring bright vibes anytime of the year. finally finishing things off with the comeback, we get something a little different with its tribal percussion and once again feel good vibes but the standout here is mathias’s display as a classically trained pianist, which he displays wonderfully throughout the track. one thing that is clear through his years of music composing experience in electronic music and beyond is you can expect finely crafted works of art that work both on the dance floor and as tools to spark your imagination.

matt karmil, pional, marc piñol and dandara shed a new light on slowciety s previous record: guru. guru remixes opens with a mesmerising and brooding interpretation of the self-titled by matt karmil, recalling the raw textures of the uk-producer s lp. pional s remix comes next with a powerful treatment of elephant, once again proving the dancefloor expertise of the madrid-based producer. he delivers the shamanic experience from the original track and pushes it forward with soaring percussive elements & beats layered on a 90 s-esque emotive pad. marc piñol opens the b-side with a groovy remix of guru, described by the man himself as a 122 bpm after party tool. a heady bassline loop, as well as dry & twisted sounds beefed up by karmil s work on the mastering, lead the remix to a hypnotic ride, pure and efficient. last but not least, swiss producer dandara brings his tribal touch to the sensual -utopia-. a slow melodic dancefloor piece which smoothly closes this third record.

the unblock label hits its seventh release with a split ep featuring rising talents tato and tijn. the sound on the 12inch fits right in with the previous transmissions from tuccillo, tomoki tamura and more besides, taking a quirky approach to stripped down house and techno dynamics to create intriguing party fodder for inquisitive dancers. tatos estic does a wondrous job of twisting up tribal percussion with a snaking minimal groove, while lusyourmaind brings a cheeky housey shuffle to the proceedings while keeping things a little mysterious in the same breath. tijns stranger things is a light and airy minimal house jam that contrasts neatly with the hook running through the centre of piano tool.
